Biography:

Thomas Ország-Land is a poet and award-winning foreign correspondent who writes from London and his native Budapest. He survived the Holocaust as a Jewish child ­hiding from both the Nazis and the Allied bombers. He took part in the 1956 Hungarian revolution against Soviet rule as a ­journalist on the staff of A Magyar Függetlenség. His poetry has been published in The Spectator and The New York Times; his reviews and polemics by The Times Literary Supplement and Foreign Policy. His next book will be Christmas in Auschwitz: Holocaust Poetry Translated from the Hungarian of András Mezei (Smokestack, England, 2010).
